Women’s organisations from all over the world can apply to filia for a fast grant from the Opportunity fund.
>>Funding Guideline and Application form Opportunity Fund
At filia, those women´s foundations which, like filia itself, are members of the International Network of Women´s
Funds, are called "sister foundations." At regular conferences, the network primarily provides space for exchange of
experience and learning from one another. Twenty-six foundations from Africa, Asia, North and South America and Europe are organized here. filia supports the construction of the network by helping to fund the annual conferences (see too "Philanthropy and Networking").
The women´s foundations have assumed the task of acquiring resources and making them available for activities and projects of the feminist movement. Over the past thirty years, women´s foundations have become an ever more important sources of income have for women´s groups worldwide, and need reinforcement. Through the cooperation with sister foundations, filia´s support funds can become effective directly at the base: The women’s foundations distribute the money locally to small women´s organizations in their countries, which often cannot apply internationally in German or English. These proceedings are called "re-granting." In addition to strengthening the women´s groups, it also strengthens the foundations, which can thus work with larger budgets and gain influence and visibility. In 2007, filia worked together with women’s foundations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, in Georgia, in India and Nepal, in Serbia and in Ukraine.
One special feature is the promotion of the joint project "Learning Bridges" of the women´s foundations of Serbia, Georgia and of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. These foundations have developed a model-like peer learning program, in which they visit each other and support each other in the construction and their organizational development. They will make the results of their experience available to all the foundations in the network.
This project is sponsored by the three internationally operating women´s foundations Mama Cash, Global Fund for Women and filia.die frauenstiftung.
