The Black European Women’s Council (BEWC) is in its second year of Strategic Funding.
This network of Black Women’s Rights Activists from 14 EU countries is coordinated from Vienna by AFRA International Center for Black Women’s Perspectives. With their politically chosen name “Black European Women”, the women’s rights activists of African origin make their claim to full participation in European societies and all civil rights eminently clear. At EU level they lobby for the interests of black European women who experience double disadvantaging, as members of a visible minority and as women. National councils in their countries also bring influence to bear on anti-discrimination legislation and implementation of such laws.
